Custom components allow you to create your own components for items that are not available in one or more of the SwiftEstimator applications (Residential Estimator, Commercial Estimator and Segregated Estimator).
Custom components have the following features:
You can create a custom component, then can use it over and over again from any of the SwiftEstimator applications (just like the components supplied by Marshall & Swift).
You can use either of the following as your source for custom component costs:
Your own local sources such as building supply stores or contractors
Either of the Marshall & Swift cost books, the Marshall Valuation Service (MVS) or the Residential Cost Handbook (RCH).
When your source is one of the M&S cost books, you can have the following adjustments automatically made to the costs:
Updated from the date of the source page in the M&S cost book to the date of the report.
Localized using the appropriate local multiplier, which is necessary since the costs in the M&S cost books are national average costs.
For each SwiftEstimator application, you can set the following for each custom component:
Whether or not the component is available in the application.
The category in which you want to display the custom component in the selection lists on the application's Components screen.
Where to print the component in the reports.
Custom component maintenance includes the ability to print some or all of your custom components.
Once you have created components, you are responsible for updating them.
