Gypsum block (sometimes referred to as tile) is used primarily for fireproofing columns or interior partitions. The face dimensions are usually 12" x 30". The blocks can be from 2" to 6" and are generally lightweight. Mortar joints used are 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2". These partitions are painted or unfinished.
